Celebrity Couples
Prior to the party, write the names of celebrity couples on cards (one celebrity per card). When your guests arrive pin a card onto each guest’s back (or write on a post-it note to stick onto their back) without letting them see the name. The object of the game is for each person to find their celebrity partner. To achieve this, they will need to find out the name that is on their back. Guests may only ask each other questions about their celebrity identity that require a “yes” or “no” answer. For example “am I a singer? ~ am I a man? ~ The game ends when everyone has found their celebrity partner. If you have a theme to your party, use appropriate celebrities.
Rabbit
Start by dealing each player a card, face down. The first player reads the card and announces the subject plus the three forfeit words. The player must attempt to talk for sixty seconds without mentioning any of the forfeit words. For instance, if the subject is ‘Dentists’ the player must talk about ‘Dentists’ without using the words ‘Teeth’, ‘Filling’ or ‘Drill’. Also remember that you cannot cheat by using words such as ‘Tooth’, ‘Fill’ or ‘Drilling’…they are also disallowed! Choose a player to act as timekeeper and listen intently for the forfeit words a very fun party game.
If player uses any of the banned words or hesitates for more than two seconds then they must take a drink of two fingers (two fingers measurement) . If they successfully talk for one minute then all other players take a drink of two fingers! Continue to play until each player has had two turns at talking about a subject.
Adult Musical Chairs
Wanna keep your guests laughing for hours? Bring back the old, faithful musical chairs. This fun party game starts with any number of players, and enough chairs for each guest, less one. Chairs are arranged in a circl facing outward. Be sure to clear out furniture to make room. Guest stand in a circle around the chairs. Select someone to control the music. While music is playing the guest walk around the chairs, when the music stops everyone races to sit down, the guest left without a chair is out of the game. Now remove one chair. The music starts again and the cycle repeats until there is only one player left, who is the winner.
Create a murder mystery. Purchase a murder mystery kit for an easy cocktail party game! The game will come with instructions on how to give clues and set up characters. At the end of the night, ask everyone who they think committed the murder then reveal who it really was.
A truth and a lie. Telling a truth and a lie is a fun game and icebreaker at a cocktail party. Have everyone stand up and tell one truth and one lie about themselves. The game is for everyone to choose which statement is the lie and which one is the truth. This game is best if you have something outrageous to say that is the truth.
