Ask Mr. Booze – Christmas Edition

Q: We were invited to a traditional Victorian Christmas. Any drink ideas?

A: I’d go with a punch. Most of today’s cocktails were created after 1900, making them too “late”. Mix up a big batch of say, a whiskey, wassail or champagne (to be mixed at the party) punch and bring that w/ fruit to float. If not a punch, then mulled wine. If you have a pretty pitcher, you can pour punch out of that, you don’t have to have a punch bowl.

Here’s a link to a great Wassail Punch recipe.

Sounds like a great party. Go dressed as one of the ghosts from A Christmas Carol and get a few laughs walking in.
